Trip Details

Experience miles of pristine trails/back country roads through huge mountain meadows, past cascading streams, and into the Sawtooth Mountains. You can pedal for weeks and never find yourself riding the same place twice.

Meeting Times – Departs upon reservation. Reservations Required

Location – Sawtooth Adventure Company, 710 Ace of Diamonds

Season – June 1st – October 1

Duration – 2-4 hours

Activity Level – Mid – Medium – High depending on experience

Age Requirements – 6+

What to Bring – Mountain Bike, shorts, non-cotton T-shirt, jacket, and athletic shoes. Remember the sunglasses and sunscreen. If you do not have a mountain bike you can rent through Balance Bike Works

Cancellation Policy – 50% Deposit is required when reserving your trip. This deposit is fully refundable up to 48 hours before your trip.

New to Mountain Biking? No worries, SAC offers the perfect introduction to this healthy, life-long adventure. Our beginner rides are great for families as a safe and unforgettable way to spend the day in the mountains. Our overnight trips offer the seasoned rider an awesome experience to explore the amazing single track found within the Sawtooth National Recreation Area.

SAC guides are highly trained and have first-hand knowledge of the areas best single-track trails, back country roads and short day rides to accommodate your groups needs.

Is this a good activity for my family?
Yes, our mountain bike trip’s a private excursion. This allows us to cater trail selection, elevation gain and duration to accommodate all abilities.

Do I need to know how to Mountain Bike
No previous mountain bike experience necessary. You need to have previous bike riding skills on pavement.

Will I be part of a group
In order to provide the best possible trip for each individual group’s needs, all SAC mountain bike adventures are private excursions.

Can I use my own bike?
You are invited to use your own bike. Your SAC guide will need to approve your ride prior to the adventure to ensure minimum quality standards.

Half Day Trail Descriptions

Elk Mountain Loop: 13 Miles
Elevation Gain – 450′
Difficulty – Moderate/Difficult

A fast single track trail through huge mountain meadows broken up with short, fun and easy technical sections. The EM Loop has miles of pristine single track consisting of rocks, roots, and wildlife. Impressive mountain meadows and vast Sawtooth views make this a trail you will remember. Elk Mountain Loop is a user friendly introduction to single track riding for all ages and abilities. If you can ride a bike, you can experience this beautiful area within the Sawtooth National Recreation Area.

Nip & Tuck: 10 Miles
Elevation Gain – 350′
Difficulty – Easy/Moderate

Nip & Tuck offers clients arguably the best panoramic view of the Sawtooth Range. This trail explores turn-of-the-century logging roads, with small, smooth sections of single track, perfect for 1st time riders. Nip & Tuck trail offers the unique opportunity to explore the history of the Stanley Basin. Your knowledgeable guide will offer educational facts and information about the mining, cattle driving, and current events affecting this pristine valley. Numerous abandoned homesteads and mine claims are hidden within the hillsides. Your guide will lead you through an educational journey exploring the area that was once a bustling population of miners and trappers during the turn of the 19th century.

Little Casino: Out & Back. Up to 16 miles
Elevation Gain: 2800 ft max
Difficulty– Technically easy. Advanced cardio

Little Casino Creek is a fantastic out/back single track trail  in the White Cloud mountains.  While Little Casino is technically easy riding, it is a long and super fun climb. The perfect challenge for aspiring riders.

Trapp Creek: Out & Back.  5 miles to Marten Lake
Elevation Gain: 1475 ft over 5 miles
Difficulty: Moderate/Difficult climb to Marten Lake

Trapp Creek is an excellent climb into the Sawtooth Mountains.  Fantastic , flowy single track through the woods.  Lots of bridges and fun technical riding, plus a little hike-a-bike and a few creek crossings to make it a well rounded Idaho bike adventure.   The accent is celebrated with Marten Lake, a high classic Sawtooth Mountain lake.
